1) First Aid:

Greer & Kirby Co., Inc. can advise the adjuster and his insured in the best method of preserving a stock after damage has occurred and how to prevent ongoing damage.

2) Segregation of damaged from undamaged stock:

In order to properly assess the extent of the insured's claim it must be first agreed how much of the stock suffered damage as a result of the peril. With the knowledge of how different stocks respond to various perils Greer & Kirby Co., Inc. can assist in setting parameters for determining which items will be considered in the claim and which will be excluded because they are unaffected.

3) Inventory:

The most important step in assessing a claim for damages to stock is the proper implementation of inventory procedures.

This may involve the active participation of Greer & Kirby Co., Inc. personnel in the inventory process, or supervising the procedures, or establishing the procedures to be used and then returning to verify the efforts of the insured are accurate and acceptable to the carrier.

4) Verification of Value:

Once the inventory is complete, and agreed to, Greer & Kirby Co., Inc. can be useful in the verification of values assigned and applying these values to the terms of the policy. This process can also be accomplished in conjunction with an accounting firm who can provide more depth as regards to sales trends, age of merchandise and obsolescence based on projections of sales as opposed to the inventory on hand.

5) Assessment of damages:

A qualified Greer & Kirby Co., Inc. representative can assist the adjuster in settling of a claim by providing the adjuster with the potential recovery if the stock is to be taken as salvage, and/or by advising the adjuster as to an equitable loss of value figure based on past experience with similar goods in similar circumstances if the stock is to be retained by the insured.

6) Selling the stock as salvage:

Greer & Kirby Co., Inc. has outlets for almost any commodity and will be able to facilitate the sale and removal almost any type of damaged stock generating a top return.

7) Temporary Storage of damage stock for Better Protection:

Greer & Kirby Co., Inc. can assist the carrier or the insured by providing temporary storage for stock until decisions are made relative to valuation, damage or disposition. Stock can also be stored for evidentiary purposes when subrogation is a concern.
